RT07: Opportunities for Value-Based Care in Urogynecology

In an era of transition to a more value-based care model, which prioritizes outcomes and patient experience for reimbursement, it is important for practicing urogynecologists to understand what is at stake and what they can do. Practice efficiency is instrumental to thriving in this environment. This roundtable will focus on all 3 elements of the all-important equation, “value = quality / cost.”

Value-based care may look different in the academic and non-academic settings. We will review important topics to guide providers in both. The roundtable will facilitate informal discussion for providers with interest in practice management to share their experiences and generate new ideas. Both new and established providers will benefit.

Dr. Joan Blomquist has been in hospital-based practice with an academic affiliation in the Baltimore area for more than 25 years. She has been a champion of hospital-wide quality improvement and understands how quality fortifies the GBMC institutional mission.

Dr. Sarah Collins has been in academic practice in the Chicago area for 13 years. Her work in shared decision making has resulted in the development of 3 computer-based decisional aids. She helped design a value-based urogynecology practice model during COVID which has persisted and evolved post-pandemic.
