RT10: Upstream Quality Improvement, Social Determinants of Health, and Disparities

With new focuses on SDOH screening by both CMA and HEDIS, providers will have additional expectations over and above providing medical care. These metrics are now being measured in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. This includes data at the level of a practitioner and may be used in compensation from payers and employers. The CMS Quality Payment Program's MIPS scoring is an example. We will introduce the SDOH metrics, integrating an approach called the upstream quality improvement methodology, and how it helps address health disparities.
