RT09: Tips and Tricks for the New Attending - Lessons I Did Not Learn in Fellowship
Thursday, October 24, 2024
6:45 AM – 7:45 AM EDT
Location: Chinatown (Meeting Level 3)
Fellowship teaches us the technical aspects of being a good physician and surgeon. However, most of us starting our first job know very little practical tips about how to create and sustain a successful and high revenue generating practice. How can we design our clinic schedules to be most efficient? How can we avoid long surgical days? How can we optimally utilize our ancillary staff? How can we continue to do what we trained so hard for without burning out? These are some of the questions I hope to answer through this roundtable.
I graduated from fellowship in 2018 and since then have been practicing at a large hospital network. Being on an RVU based compensation model and being the solo Urogynecologist at my practice in my region early in my career, forced me to learn to be efficient. I have picked up tips and tricks from my own struggles as well as talking to seniors and mentors. Being efficient and learning time-management allowed me to love my job while also avoiding burn out. Through this roundtable, I hope to teach new graduates and early career physicians’ things I wish I knew when I started my practice.
