Charelle Carter-Brooks, M.D., M.Sc., is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Urology at the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She completed medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and her obstetrics and gynecology residency training at MedStar Washington Hospital Center/ Georgetown University Hospital. She completed her fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She completed a Masters of Clinical Research at the University of Pittsburgh during her fellowship. Her research interests include pelvic floor disorders in women of color, patient-centered outcomes, peri-operative patient optimization and quality improvement, related to Enhanced Recovery from Surgery (ERAS).
After fellowship she joined the faculty at GW in Washington, D.C. Since joining the faculty, she has continued to teach medical students and residents. She is now the assistant OB/GYN Residency Program Director and departmental Director of Equity. She received the Faculty Mentorship Award which is given for a significant contribution to faculty, resident or student mentorship. Recently, she inducted into the AOA honor society as distinguished faculty member for her commitment to high quality patient care, leadership, service, and scholarship. She has been recognized by her peers a “Top Doctor” in the Washingtonian Magazine numerous times.
In her spare time, she loves to spend time at home with her husband and 2 young kids, watch reality tv or docuseries, and dine at the newest restaurants in D.C.
Dr. Carter-Brooks is committed to improving women’s healthcare through education, patient care, mentorship, research and volunteerism.
