Sophya Breedlove is a 3rd year PhD student in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt). Prior to beginning her graduate studies at Pitt, Sophya completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science & Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University located in Pittsburgh, PA. Sophya is interested in improving the quality-of-life of women. She is conducting research in Dr. Katrina Knight’s laboratory, which is part of the Translational Research Laboratories in Urogynecology (TRLU) at Magee-Womens Research Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. The Knight lab focuses on the development of alternative devices and treatments for pelvic floor disorders, particularly for pelvic organ prolapse. Sophya is currently a NIH T32 Biomechanics in Regenerative Medicine (BiRM) Fellow. Sophya looks forward to continuing to improve women’s health throughout her future career.
