Katie Weston is a third-year medical student at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. Her research interests include antibiotic stewardship, pelvic organ prolapse, and the effects of period poverty in schools. In September 2023, Katie was awarded the Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology Research award at the CCOM Medical Student Research Conference for her prolapse research. She previously served as co-director of Doc Dash, an annual 5K that raises funds for two free medical clinics in Iowa City. Katie is a native Iowan and received her BA in mathematics/statistics with minors in biology and chemistry from Luther College in 2020. She enjoys hiking with her partner and their dog and attending Hawkeye football games with her family.
