I’m Dr. Alireza Hadizadeh, a medical doctor who graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and I’m currently a post-doctorate research fellow at the University of Chicago, NorthShore University Health System.
During my medical school years, I discovered a deep passion for combining clinical practice with research that could drive meaningful improvements in patient care. This passion really took off during my clerkship rotations, where I became heavily involved in research focused on pelvic medicine and surgical interventions, particularly in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse. My interest in this field has since grown into multiple research projects aimed at refining medical and surgical approaches to pelvic floor disorders.
I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Ghazaleh Rostaminia, who has been a tremendous mentor to me. Dr. Rostaminia is a leading expert in dynamic imaging of the pelvic floor, and our collaboration has been instrumental in shaping my research path. Together, we’ve developed foundational work on noninvasive and minimally invasive treatments for conditions such as rectal prolapse and obstructed defecation. One of our significant achievements has been the creation of a novel transvaginal rectopexy technique, which represents an important advancement in the field.
As I continue on this research journey, I am committed to furthering my clinical training by pursuing a residency in OB-GYN and later specializing in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). I’m eager to translate my research and surgical experience into improving the lives of women with pelvic floor disorders, and I look forward to contributing to the advancement of care in this field.
