Dr. Christine Heisler is an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin with dual appointments in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Urology. She earned her medical doctorate at the University of North Dakota and completed Obstetrics and Gynecology residency in Michigan. Dr. Heisler then completed Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During fellowship, she earned her master’s degree in biomedical sciences with studies on quality outcomes related to reconstructive pelvic surgery. Dr. Heisler serves as the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery division director and fellowship program director. In addition, she is the Medical Director of Surgery for UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Heisler has numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on gender equity in surgery. Her work on gender equity policies and statements in professional surgical societies received the Association of Women Surgeons Best Diversity Paper award in 2020. Committed to a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace, Dr. Heisler continues to identify barriers and promote solutions for gender equity in surgery.
