Dr. Alejandra Cacheiro is a Research Coordinator in Clinical Urology and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Irvine. She received her medical degree from the Universidad Internacional de Barcelona in Spain, where she began cultivating her interest in women’s health. Following her graduation, Dr. Cacheiro chose to further her training at UC Irvine, committing to research that has the potential to make a significant impact.
At UC Irvine, she coordinates research at Dr. Chang’s Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders Research Lab. Her work is centered on the effects of hysterectomy, patients’ perceived value of the uterus, and the barriers women face in accessing care. Additionally, her research addresses cultural disparities in women’s health, with the aim of improving care and outcomes for diverse populations.
Beyond her research, Dr. Cacheiro is passionate about mentoring the next generation of researchers, regularly guiding medical students and junior researchers in their projects. Her collaborative approach and commitment to advancing women’s health continue to inspire those around her, making her a valued member of the academic community at UC Irvine.
